Boys’ First Boundary Waters Trip

27 08 2008

While I was away in Utah, Jason took our boys, Kallen (5) and Noah (2) on their first boundary waters trip. For those of you unfamiliar with the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW), it is a pristine wilderness recreation area in northeastern Minnesota where no motorized boating is allowed. Paddle sports enthusiasts enjoy an abundance of lakes connected by portages with remote camping options. The fishing is usually phenomenal and sometimes you run across eagles, moose, loons, bears, timber wolves, otters, and of course our state bird -the mosquito.

Jason decided for the boys’ first time out to stay at Sawbill Lake and do day trips instead of portaging with a 2 year old (I don’t blame him).
Here’s a pic of the Femrite’s on their trip. We don’t make Noah sit in the storage unit in the back of the kayak – he chooses to ride there – he says it’s “Noah’s pot”, meaning Noah’s spot.kayak
